Plans to lay off hundreds of Googlers is proving a challenging endeavour in South Korea due to the country’s strict laws on dismissals, which make it possible for workers to refuse to resign.  

Google announced a 6% reduction in its global workforce in January 2023, affecting about 12,000 jobs across the tech giant’s business.
