The economic downturn has led to widespread mass layoffs across several industries. That these cuts are disproportionately impacting minority workers risks undoing many organisations’ D&I efforts since George Floyd’s death in 2020.

In the US, 473,000 jobs have been shed by around 800 corporates in recent months, the bulk of them in the technology sector. Worrying data shows that it is minority employees who are most at risk of losing their jobs as tech firms restructure their global operations.
