A whistleblower who brought a lawsuit against their employer under the False Claims Act provisions will receive more than $266m, the largest such award in United States history.

This week, US pharmaceutical giant Biogen finalised a record-breaking $900m settlement to resolve allegations it caused the submission of false claims to Medicare and Medicaid by paying kickbacks to physicians to induce them to prescribe the company’s drugs.
