Continuing to battle HIV discrimination in the workplace, the US Department of Justice has reached a settlement with an Indiana town accused of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) when it revoked a job offer to a qualified police officer because of his HIV diagnosis.
The officer had been successfully working for the Town of Clarksville’s police department as a volunteer reserve officer for more than a year and was fully qualified to work as a police officer when he faced discrimination, the DoJ said in a statement.
