More than 40 years after the AIDS epidemic began, significant HIV-related stigma and discrimination persist in the world of work, according to a new global survey released ahead of World Aids Day on 1 December.

At the end of 2020, approximately 38 million people worldwide were living with HIV. Last year saw 1.5 million people newly infected with HIV and approximately 680,000 died from AIDS-related illnesses.
