The trimming of ficus trees during a heatwave in California has raised the temperature of Hollywood’s striking actors and screenwriters. On Wednesday, NBC Universal was accused of endangering strikers after tree branches along a stretch of road outside its studio lot were cut back. Before their rather severe haircut, picketers had been using the trees for shade in scorching 33°C heat (91°F for those of you not using the metric system).
