The UK government is facing criticism for once again shelving plans for long-awaited employment rights legislation, despite publicly committing to a new bill on at least 20 separate occasions since 2019.

The Conservative party’s 2019 election manifesto promised to create a single enforcement body to crack down on employer abuses, introduce a right to predictable employment contracts, and improve flexible working rights.
