A McDonald’s franchisee has agreed to pay $4.35m (£3.46m) in settlement to a teenage employee who was raped by a former manager in one of its restaurants.

Rice Enterprises, which owns eight McDonald’s franchises in Pittsburgh, declared bankruptcy last year, but will reportedly use the proceeds from the sale of its restaurants to fund the settlement.
