Employers should beware EEOC after first-ever AI bias settlement

The US government’s settlement of a civil rights lawsuit involving the alleged misuse of artificial intelligence software should come as a warning to the thousands of businesses using such technology in their recruitment processes.

Last Thursday, iTutorGroup agreed to settle a 2022 Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) lawsuit that accused the Shanghai-headquartered education firm of using AI software to weed out older applicants.
