Uber hit with €584K penalty after failing to comply with transparency order

Uber must pay €4,000 a day until it complies with a court order demanding meaningful transparency into the automated decision-making that led to the robo-firing of two drivers.

The Amsterdam Court of Appeal found in April that the drivers in the UK and Portugal are entitled to information about the algorithm used to dismiss them, backing an earlier district court ruling from 2021.
