Singapore has once again warned multinationals against openly supporting LGBTQ+ issues in a way that could cause societal division within the country as a new law against foreign interference comes into effect.
In a recent statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that while foreign businesses were free to promote diversity within their organisation, “they should be careful about advocacy on issues in Singapore that could be socially divisive (including LGBT issues)”, adding that such matters are “for Singaporeans to discuss and come to a consensus on how to move forward”.
