A new law requires New York businesses to notify past and present workers who may have been exposed to toxins following the World Trade Center collapse about federal health programmes and victim compensation.
The 9/11 Notice Act, signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday, requires employers with 50 or more staff to inform current and former employees, present in the exposure zones of lower Manhattan and northern Brooklyn between 11 September 2001 and the end of May 2002, about their rights.
