Endorsed by EU lawmakers on Thursday, millions of European employees are set to benefit from new health and safety rules governing exposure to workplace asbestos.

The draft Asbestos Directive, already agreed upon between the EU’s Parliament and Council in June, will require employers to reduce workers’ exposure to asbestos fibres to the lowest possible level and provide for more accurate ways to measure exposure levels.
