Americans are still trying to process the damage caused by Hurricane Ian last week. The deadliest storm to hit the US mainland since Hurricane Katrina has devastated homes and businesses, and reportedly left more than 100 people dead across Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Given climate change is causing an increase in extreme weather patterns worldwide, this disaster should act as yet another wake-up call for employers to prioritise workplace safety and disaster preparedness. But will it?
