It’s June, which means two things: first, lots of companies claiming to celebrate their LGBTQ+ employees; second, counterclaims from activists that such talk has little to no substance behind it. The latter, in many cases, could well be true.
Research published by Glassdoor last week shows nearly half (45%) of employed LGBTQ+ Americans believe being “out” at work could hurt their careers. Even more worryingly, more than half (55%) of workers reported experiencing or witnessing anti-LGBTQ+ comments by co-workers – up from 53% on Glassdoor’s 2019 poll.
