A federal court has ordered a Florida power company to implement a safety compliance plan, pay a $500,000 penalty, and be subject to three years probation after pleading guilty to causing the deaths of five workers.

The admission by Tampa Electric Company (TECO) followed an FBI and Department of Labor criminal investigation into an explosion at the coal-fired Big Bend River Station electrical power plant in Apollo Beach in 2017.
