The UK government’s plan to crack down on rogue bosses’ use of controversial “fire and hire” practices falls short of what many labour campaigners had hoped for. Nonetheless, the new statutory code does have a sting in the tail for unwary employers.

Published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on 24 January, the long-awaited draft “Code of Practice on Dismissal and Re-engagement” will be subject to a consultation process over the next 12 weeks.
