A President Donald Trump-era rule that allowed a broader group of federal contractors to make workforce decisions based on employees’ religious beliefs has been rescinded by the US Department of Labor.

The move is expected to significantly reduce the number of organisations that can claim religious exemptions when making hiring and employment decisions.
