In a victory for Texas municipalities, a district judge has declared a controversial new state law unconstitutional just days before it was due to take effect.

Dubbed the “Death Star Law”, the legislation aims to undo and prevent local labour laws, such as paid sick leave and mandatory water breaks passed by Democratic-led cities and counties, that are deemed to go beyond state rules.
