After months of negotiations and postponements, Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva delivered a bill on Monday that aims to strengthen the rights of ride-hailing app drivers, including rights to a minimum wage and maternity benefits.

If passed by the Senate and Lower House of Congress, the Complementary Law Project (PLC) bill will see the establishment of “self-employed platform worker” employment category into Brazilian law.
