Just days after 300 Grab workers protested over reductions in base fares, a senior member of the Malaysian government has pledged his support in the establishment of a Gig Economy Commission (SEGiM) to look into worker welfare.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also president of former ruling party Umno, announced on 25 January that his party’s senior leadership is pushing the government to immediately set up the new commission.
