Millions more salaried workers are set to receive overtime protections under a new proposed rule change announced by the US Department of Labor late last week.
The rule change would guarantee overtime pay for most salaried workers earning less than $1,059 (£840) per week, or $55,000 (£43,000) per year.
Salaried workers who earn above that threshold may still be eligible for overtime pay if they do not primarily perform management-related duties.
The rule would not affect overtime eligibility for workers who are paid hourly.
