A man and woman who disguised themselves as passengers to savagely beat and rob an Uber driver in Texas last year have been sentenced to federal prison.

Houston residents Frank Lewis Blanco, 28, and Destinee Guerrero, 24, pleaded guilty to carjacking with the intent to cause death or serious bodily harm in June.

US District Judge David Hittner imposed a 12-year prison sentence on Blanco at a hearing last Thursday, while Guerrero received a six-year sentence. Both must also serve three years of supervised release following their sentences.
