An Uber executive has warned that the EU’s proposed new rules for gig workers could force the company to raise prices by as much as 40% and possibly shut down services in “hundreds” of cities, according to the Financial Times.

The proposed EU directive aims to allow people working through digital labour platforms, like Uber, to gain legal employment status if it corresponds to their actual working arrangements.
