Equity compensation plans must be more equitable, report finds

Despite companies’ continuing attempts to close their gender pay gaps, women are significantly lagging behind men in equity compensation, a new report reveals.

Research from Morgan Stanley’s Shareworks division found that even in the presence of equal base pay, equity plans can increase pre-existing disparities between workers. Overall, only 41% of women workers reported receiving 5% or more of their compensation in equity compared to 52% of their male counterparts.
