Equal pay legislation and wage transparency obligations have been a feature of legal frameworks in the US, UK, and many European countries for some time. But 2022 was a watershed year in for the adoption of pay transparency legislation globally.

New laws, combined with bold D&I commitments and more aggressive shareholder activism with respect to organisations’ ESG efforts, reflects the growing recognition that embracing pay transparency is an effective method of reducing gender-based pay inequality.
