In February 2022, Austria will become the first European country to introduce a general vaccination obligation against covid-19. This mandate is directed at all persons over the age of 18 and resident in Austria. It is thus a general vaccination obligation addressing the whole population and not any specific groups.

If individual citizens fail to comply with the legal obligation to vaccinate, they may be subject to administrative penalties, but they will not experience any further disadvantages.
