The British government’s new rules on skilled worker visas came into force earlier this month, in a move that is likely to exacerbate acute staff shortages in key sectors of the economy.

The minimum yearly salary rate for new Skilled Worker visas increased to £38,700 on 4 April, with the going rate for skilled worker roles increasing from 25% of average pay for a specific role to 50% of average pay. For some roles, this will require a salary of significantly over £38,700.
