UK firms produce “wholly backward-looking” boilerplate modern slavery statements

UK boardrooms must do more to eradicate modern slavery as new research suggests most companies are not sufficiently equipped to deal with human rights risks.

Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires businesses with a turnover of £36m or more to write an annual statement setting out the steps taken to address the risk of slavery in their operations and supply chains.
