Recently approved by parliament, parents in Sweden are set to receive even more generous parental leave rights under new rules effective this July.

The number of joint-leave days available to couples will double from 30 to 60 days. This “double day” leave is also extended from 12 to 15 months after birth.

Additionally, the new rules give the option of transferring part of a parent’s general parental leave allowance to someone other than their co-parent.
