Job applicants who include gender-neutral they/them pronouns on their resumes are less likely to be contacted by employers, according to new research.
The report from business.com found more than 80% of one 400 non-binary people believe that revealing how they identified would hurt their job prospects. Since researchers estimate there to be around 1.2 million LGBTQ+ adults in the US identifying as non-binary, the number of applicants likely impacted is significant.
