New Zealand’s anti-wage theft bill has had its first reading in the House of Representatives. The Crimes (Theft by Employer) Amendment Bill was first put forward in April by Labour MP Ibrahim Omer, who says it will offer a “symbolic form of protection” for exploited and vulnerable workers.
