Employment discrimination remains a “pervasive” issue among New York’s trans and non-binary community, and particularly among individuals of colour, who are genuinely fearful for their safety at work, a new study has revealed.

Commissioned by Governor Kathy Hochul, the Transgender Employment Report found that those groups experienced higher rates of unemployment than their cisgender counterparts. The group also experienced lower incomes than cisgender workers with the same educational background.
