In what could be a landmark ruling, a group of Filipino migrant workers in Macau have won their case against their former employer for a range of labour law violations.
Judge Chang Chi Wai ordered Tai Koo Cleaning Service Company to pay salaries and compensation to the dismissed staff and a fine of MOP240,000 (US$29,739).
The case was initiated in 2022 when 35 non-resident Filipino workers lodged complaints with Macau’s Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL) regarding unpaid wages spanning three months.
