China steps up efforts to address declining birth-rate with new workplace guidelines

China has announced several new measures to boost its declining birth rate amid increasing concerns that the population could start shrinking by 2025.

Beijing has been working hard to encourage people to have more children following the scrapping of its one-child policy in 2016. Last year several regions extended maternity leave by at least 30 days, on top of the 98 days mothers are entitled to under national labour laws.
