On 3 February 2022, the Spanish Congress of Deputies approved Royal Decree-Law 32/2021 (RDL 32/2021) amending the Workers’ Statute (WS).
The reform, after several controversies, came into force on 31 December 2021, except for training, temporary, and permanent-discontinuous contracts, which will come into force on 30 March 2022.
This amendment is the result of the agreement reached between the employers’ association and the main unions after many months of negotiations, and it has the following main objectives:
