Andrew Bratt has been unveiled as the new national leader of Gowling WLG’s employment, labour, and equalities (ELE) group in Canada.

“It is an honour to take up the mantle and lead the group at this particularly critical juncture. The challenges posed by the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and their economic consequences are serious and complex – but so is the opportunity for employers ahead,” said Bratt.

“I look forward to working with my talented colleagues in helping our clients navigate these uncharted waters with the alacrity, creativity and steadfast advocacy for which Gowling WLG is known.”

A past Toronto office leader of the firm’s ELE Group, Bratt’s practice includes employment-related litigation, human rights proceedings, employment standards claims, workers’ compensation proceedings, and employment issues related to corporate transactions.

Bratt assumes the leadership of the 40-strong team from outgoing leader Bettina Burgess.

“As the outgoing leader, I am delighted that Andrew will be the person to take over the helm, particularly as our clients continue to endure the myriad challenges caused by the pandemic,” said Burgess.

“Andrew brings to our team and to our clients years of substantive expertise, experience and understanding of our clients’ businesses. He has been instrumental in expertly assisting our practice group and our clients through the rapidly changing issues of 2020, and I know that he will continue to do so through his term as practice group leader.”
