General Motors (GM) will pay $365,000 to resolve allegations that it discriminated against non-US citizens in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). The Detroit automaker made no admission of wrongdoing.
The Department of Justice investigation said in a statement on Tuesday that GM’s violations stemmed in part from its failure to properly consider the INA’s non-discrimination requirements when complying with export control laws, which govern companies’ ability to export certain goods, software, technology, and technical data.
