Employment lawyers have warned businesses to update their HR manuals and retrain staff following the introduction of an expanded definition of sexual harassment in France.

The latest update to the Code du Travail means examples of sexual harassment now include sexist comments or behaviours. In contrast to France’s Penal Code, the perpetrators of such acts need not intentionally cause harm to the victim.
