EU lawmakers have adopted a January report from the European Commission aimed at improving the role, capacity, and functioning of European Works Councils (EWCs) through amendments to the 2009 Recast Directive.

“European Works Councils play a crucial role in promoting democracy at work. While generally EWCs have been a success story, the Directive from 2009 has some shortcomings that we are now addressing,” said EU Rapporteur Dennis Radtke.
