In March 2020, Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins delivered the Respect@Work Report with a “sense of urgency and hope”. The report found the current legal and regulatory system was “simply no longer fit for purpose” and outlined 55 recommendations to address sexual harassment in Australian workplaces.

On 27 September 2022, the Albanese Government introduced legislation to implement seven of the report's recommended legislative changes (the previous Morrison Government had addressed the remainder). In this article we outline:
