Malaysia will defer implementation of new employment regulations to 2023. The move by the Human Resources Ministry follows fears that many businesses would struggle to comply with the amended Employment Act before the 1 September 2022 deadline.

“The ministry has discussed the matter with the cabinet, and they all agree to delay the implementation of the amendments to 1 January 2023,” Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan told reporters.
