Companies that intend to terminate their operations in Italy should take note of new obligations to inform and consult on their plans, recently introduced by law No. 234/2022.

The new provision will apply to employers that employed – on average during the year preceding the decision to close – more than 250 employees (including apprentices and managers) and intend to proceed with the closure of a plant, independent branch, or local office, with the definitive termination of the related activity that will involve the dismissal of at least 50 employees.
