Besides making headlines at home and abroad, claims that the organisers of a beauty pageant are breaking French labour law by using discriminatory selection criteria should be of interest to employers and counsel alike across France. 

Feminist organisation Osez le Féminisme and three unsuccessful applicants argue that contestants in the 101-year-old Miss France pageant are workers, as they undertake work for the show, and are entitled to protection from discrimination.
