8:30 - 9:00 - Registration and welcome coffee

9.00 - 10.00 - Session 1: Planning, scoping, and strategic decision-making

The success of any cross-border restructuring exercise is often determined long before employees are informed. This session explores the critical planning decisions that shape legal risk, exposure, and delivery across multiple jurisdictions. Panellists will discuss how to plan a restructuring, identify high-risk countries, align legal strategy with commercial objectives, and determine where global consistency is achievable and/ or desirable – and where local flexibility is essential. The session will also examine how severance strategy, employee relations, communications, and governance should be built into project planning from the outset to ensure smooth delivery and reduce legal exposure.

10:00 - 10:30 - Coffee break

10.30 - 11.30 - Session 2: Managing legal complexity across multiple jurisdictions

Once planning is complete, employers face the challenge of implementing restructurings within a patchwork of national employment laws. This session examines the legal obligations that arise during implementation, from collective consultation and works council engagement to redundancy procedures, protected employee groups, and dismissal requirements. Panellists will discuss how multinationals can coordinate legal advice across jurisdictions, manage competing timelines, and maintain consistency while complying with local legal obligations.

11.30 - 12.30 - Session 3: Turning legal strategy into effective project delivery

Even the strongest legal strategy can falter without effective project management. This session focuses on the practical realities of delivering a complex international restructuring, from coordinating HR, legal, reward, and communications teams to managing local counsel, governance, and internal approvals. Panellists will share practical lessons from large-scale projects, highlighting common operational pitfalls and effective programme management techniques.
