More must be done to keep women employed and paid fairly after the UK’s Trades Union Congress found women are seven times more likely to be out of work due to caring commitments, while those in work spend nearly two months each year working for free.

The analysis of official statistics found that more than 1.46 million women are unable to work alongside their family commitments, such as children, older, and disabled relatives, compared to around 230,000 men.
