US Supreme Court says unions can be sued for property damage

In a blow to organised labour, the US Supreme Court has lowered the threshold for companies to sue labour unions over property damage occurring during strikes.

In an 8-1 ruling, the court sided with concrete supplier Glacier Northwest in its dispute with a truck drivers union over claims that members did not take sufficient precautions to prevent serious damage to the company’s vehicles.
