A former senior judge appointed to assist judges raise internal concerns has backed calls to reform the UK’s whistleblowing regime with financial rewards, arguing that current legislation offers little incentive for whistleblowers to come forward.

“People who whistleblow do so out of the best of motives. But, there’s nothing in it for them,” says Dr Victoria McCloud, until recently a High Court Master and an ongoing advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Whistleblowing via its Secretariat, Whistleblowers UK.
