Singapore plans to strengthen its entry requirements for foreign employees in a bid to attract high-quality candidates and ensure workplace diversity. Although not all employers will be affected, employment experts suggest the move will force a change in hiring strategies.

Under the plans, the Ministry of Manpower will raise the minimum salary threshold and introduce a points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS) for Employment Pass (EP) and S Pass applications progressively from September this year.
