The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced a new procedure governing the reporting of foreign nationals who have “absconded” from private-sector employers in the kingdom.

The updated rules allow employers to submit requests to terminate the contractual relationship with an expatriate due to unreported “absenteeism”. If accepted by ministry, the worker’s data would automatically be removed from the employer’s records and their status would become “discontinued from work”.
